Michael Solomon

Fiancée Visa and Marriage-Based Immigration Attorney

Michael is a licensed attorney specializing in K1 Visa and Marriage-Based immigration law and an alternative legal / financial services and entertainment veteran with over 35 years of senior experience.

With more than 18 years of marriage-based immigration experience, Michael has been recognized by his peers and clients, as one of the top national legal experts focused on Fiancée Visa Attorney and Marriage-Based Immigration Law. He has assisted thousands of clients through the intricacies of the laws and procedures at the USCIS (formerly “INS”), Department of State, and U.S. Embassies all around the world.

He first became interested in immigration law when he met his first wife, a Bolivian national, on a dating website. As the long distance relationship flourished, they decided to marry, and his then fiancée came to the United States on a K1 Visa. His current wife, a Colombian national, was already in the United States on a tourist visa and, after the two decided to wed, he prepared her concurrent filing for her conditional green card and filed for his step-son to immigrate from Colombia on a CR2 Visa.

Michael also co-founded and served as the CEO and Chairman of CircleBack Lending, a national online consumer finance company, where he negotiated $1 Billion in forward flow purchase agreements, originated $475 Million in loans, and facilitated three securitizations.

He also Founded Loanio, the third entrant to the U.S. Alternative finance P2P lending market, and served as its CEO. He is often referred to as one of the pioneers of the industry.

While in law school he co-founded and became President of Omnilaw Legal Plans, a national network of 16,000+ attorneys. During his tenure, he created an estate planning and settlement program and serviced pre-need and at-need families for a publicly traded company operating 1,800+ funeral homes and cemetery services in North America.

Prior to law school and during law school, he spent a little over a decade in the entertainment business including production, management, touring, and consulting.

Michael earned a BA from Washington University in St. Louis and a JD from Brooklyn Law School.

Senior Attorney
Paul has been a licensed attorney since 2016 and has practiced immigration law since 2018. He has extensive experience in both litigation and client-focused immigration services, including reviewing and finalizing fiancée visa, spouse visa, adjustment of status, and removal of conditions applications to ensure accuracy and compliance with USCIS requirements. He also conducts client consultations, assesses eligibility for immigration benefits, and guides individuals and families through the immigration process.

Prior to joining the firm, Paul worked as a freelance immigration attorney, where he developed case strategy for complex matters, prepared briefs for hearings before the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR), and drafted appellate filings for the Board of Immigration Appeals. He also previously served as a Leads Attorney at Hacking Immigration Law, managing a team of attorneys and intake specialists while overseeing client intake and case development. He earned his Juris Doctor from Regent University School of Law and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Historical Theology from Moody Bible Institute. He is licensed to practice law in Ohio and New York.

Paul lives in Lakewood, where he enjoys hiking the Buckeye Trail with his wife, Elizabeth, and their Labrador retriever. He is a die-hard fan of the Cleveland Guardians and enjoys playing beach volleyball whenever he gets the chance.

Katarina V. Schmidt

Senior Attorney
Katarina earned her J.D. from the University of Dayton School of Law through the accelerated 2-year Juris Doctorate Program. While a student at UD, she completed her externship at Bradley & Associates, an immigration law firm in Dayton, Ohio, and she partook in the UD immigration law clinic. She graduated with a Bachelor's degree from the American University of Paris with a major in International and Comparative Politics and a minor in International Law. She speaks Russian and Spanish fluently.

Before joining Solomon Immigration Law, Katarina worked as an associate attorney at Hacking Immigration Law, where she managed the firm’s consular processing division. She also assisted the leads team in identifying eligible cases for delay lawsuits to facilitate Adjustment of Status or visa processing. Additionally, she regularly attended USCIS interviews on behalf of the firm's clients.

Immigration Attorney Katarina Schmidt was a panel discussion member at the AILA Annual Conference in New York City (2022): Eligibility for Permanent Residence Despite the Death of a Qualifying Relative or Sponsor. She is admitted to the Ohio Bar, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, the Florida Bar, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, and the United States Supreme Court.

Rakia Turner

Senior Attorney
Rakia has a longstanding career providing counsel and representation to clients in diverse facets of family and humanitarian immigration law, including proceedings in Immigration Court. Her legal experience is complemented by a background managing legal service programs for community-based non-profits.

Her professional background also includes significant international legal experience. She previously served as a senior human rights counsel for a global NGO and as a vice president in wealth planning at a private bank in Geneva, Switzerland.

Rakia holds a Juris Doctor and a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She further specialized her education with a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Humanitarian Law from the University of Geneva.

Tamara Vickers

Team Leader / Executive Paralegal
Tamara has over a decade of experience as an immigration paralegal, manager, and administrative assistant. Before joining Solomon Immigration Law, she was an immigration paralegal at Lewis Law and Law Offices of Althea Campbell where she focused on immigrant and non-immigrant petitions as well as consular processing.

She immigrated from Jamaica to settle in the US with her spouse. Prior to her experience with immigration law, she worked as a paralegal, as well as a manager at several companies in Jamaica.

Tamara holds a Bachelors of Arts Degree in History and Psychology from the University of the West Indies.

Catie Camargo

Team Leader / Executive Paralegal
Catie has over a decade of experience as an immigration paralegal and manager. Prior to joining the firm, Catie served as a Senior Paralegal and Paralegal Professor at New Frontier, where she focused on family-based, humanitarian, and removal defense matters. In addition to her casework, she partnered with the Operations Director to develop and implement staff training programs, contributing to improved team performance and operational consistency.

As a first-generation American with roots in the Dominican Republic and Peru, Catie brings both professional expertise and personal insight into the immigrant experience.

Catie completed her studies in Central Florida and has pursued extensive coursework in immigration law, further strengthening her technical knowledge and leadership capabilities.
